Frequently Asked Questions
Why is the Summer Reading Club online?
This year the Tellico Plains Public Library Summer Reading is online. This allows the program to be more more fun and interactive for our patrons, and makes it easier for us to gather accurate participation statistics. While the Kids, Teen, and Adult programs are online, you can still pick up a print log sheet for our program at the library. In order to redeem prizes, participants must register and enter their reading online, which can be done at the library or from any device with internet access. Just ask at any the librarian for any help you may need.
I don't have a computer. Can I still participate?
Sure! Library staff can create a user account for you. You can have staff log your reading for you, or can access computers at the library to log your reading yourself.
Can I access the Summer Reading Club from a smartphone or tablet?
Yes. Our summer reading site is designed to work well from a smartphone, tablet, or computer.
Why are you asking for my phone number and email address for registration?
The library maintains strict privacy practices for all ages and does not share, sell, market or otherwise make available the information we collect from our patrons during program registration. Participation in the Summer Reading Program requires information from each participant so that we may identify them within the system and for statistical purposes. This information also allows us to notify patrons about the Summer Reading program as well as notify patrons about raffle prizes won.
How do I create a family account?
Parents can create an account first and then add their children. Parents can also log reading and enter secret codes for their children.
Where are my kids’ accounts?
When you signed up for the program, you probably signed your children up at the same time. To find your kids’ accounts, look for the "Family Accounts” box on the left-hand side of your account. Simply click the down-arrow to open up a drop-down menu to easily switch between your family members' accounts!
What are secret codes?
Secret codes are given out at library events. Simply attend an event, remember the secret code, and enter it in your log for bonus points!
Where can I find a list of all the programs? Where can I find a list of programs where I’ll get a secret code/points?
On the main Summer Reading Program page, you can view the calendar of all Summer Reading Club programs. When you are logged into your account, there is an Events tab that lists all the summer programs where you can receive a code.
If a program says registration is required, how do I register?
To register for a program, call the library or email the assistant director
How do I log my reading?
Log into your account and on the first screen, enter the amount you read. Your points will be calculated and be displayed at the top right of the screen.
How do I play the mini-games?
Mini-games are only available for all programs. Log into your account and along the left-hand side click the "Mini Games" box.
Where can I ask a question?
When you are logged in, click the "Mail" menu tab and then the question mark symbol in the Notifications Inbox. We try to respond to every notification within 48 hours. During the first couple weeks of the program we receive a high volume of messages, so it may take a bit longer. We do read and respond to everything we receive. If you have a matter that requires urgent attention, contact your local library. Additionally, you can stop by Tellico Plains Public Library for assistance.
