Our Library Director
Welcome to Tellico Plains Public Library! Meet our dedicated Library Director, Nakienya, a beloved community member and lifelong resident of Tellico Plains. A graduate of TPHS and Maryville College, Nakienya is passionate about her role in the library and the opportunity to make a difference every day.
As a librarian, Nakienya finds joy in welcoming each visitor, helping them discover the perfect book, and fostering a love of reading. She delights in teaching and learning new skills, creating engaging displays, and planning exciting programs and events. Her favorite activities include hosting Story Time sessions, encouraging young minds in Makerspace, and organizing the Summer Reading Program to spark imagination and curiosity in children of all ages.
When she’s not at the library, Nakienya gives back to the community through volunteer work and enjoys capturing life’s moments through photography, planning events, and spending quality time with family and friends. She also loves kayaking, exploring new places, and attending church services, finding inspiration in her favorite Bible verse, Philippians 4:13.

- Favorite Genres: Non-fiction and Mystery
- Nicknames: NeNe and Lucy
- Favorite Holidays: Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas
- Favorite Season: Fall (she can’t resist all things pumpkin!)
