Register for our 2023 Summer Reading Program and enjoy crafts, games, treats, photo ops, and more!

We hope to see you there!

Weekly events

We have events once a week with special guests, crafts, weekly surprises, and more! 

Events are in our backyard at 6 PM on the following dates:

Don't forget to bring your Score Cards (even if not completed to update your progress), Brag Tags (so you can add to it each week), and book totes to each event.

*All Score Cards and READsquared MUST be turned in/completed 
by Friday, June 23, 2023 at 5 PM.*

All events will be outside in our backyard. If the weather is icky, we will try our best to reschedule the event and will post updates on our Facebook and website and will also send out an email. 
If you have any questions, please call the library (423-253-7388).

Minimum Requirements

*Requirements to be entered into the grand prize drawings:

*Books with minimum page requirements will be counted if no more than 30 pages off from meeting the minimum page requirements. For example, a book with 187 pages will be accepted for a Teen book. When logging books for Tween, Teen, and/or Adults, please put the number of pages of the book next to the book title.
***If using Score Cards: Please turn in Score Cards at each event -- even if not completed to update progress. If you miss an event, please put the Score Cards in an envelope and drop them in the book drop box or turn them in at the library. ​
All Score Cards and READsquared MUST be turned in/completed by 
Friday, June 23, 2023 at 5 PM.

Readers Make Leaders BOOKS: Read 10 Books (Pre-K & Children), 3 Books with minimum page requirements (Tween), or 2 Books with minimum page requirements (Teen & Adult) to meet minimum requirements for Grand Prizes. Only participants from ages 0-6 can count picture books toward their goal. The more books you read, the more points you get! Happy Reading!!    
All Together Now EVENTS: Attend Any 2 Summer Reading Program events (excludes Awards event) at the library to meet minimum requirements for Grand Prizes. Secret codes are provided at each qualifying Summer Reading Program event and can be entered by clicking “ENTER CODE” on READsquared. 
Put the “I” in Kind MISSIONS: Fun activities… Complete 3 Missions & the Scavenger Hunt Mission to meet minimum requirements for Grand Prizes.
  • PICTURE MISSIONS:
    • Story Time with Your Pet: take & show a photo of you reading with your pet
    • Family/Friend Story Time: take & show a photo of you reading with family/friend
  • LIBRARY MISSIONS:
    • Become a TPPL Library Card Holder: register for your own TPPL library card
    • Use TEL/TEL4U: Tell us what resource interested you or that you use the most on TEL (tntel.info) or TEL4U (tel4u.org)
    • Join Friends of the Library: Help make Programs possible at your library
    • Donate from the Library’s Wishlists (Amazon, Wal-Mart, or see library’s website)
    • Attend a Library Program: Attend at least 1 other library program other than a Summer Reading Program event
    • Use TN R.E.A.D.S./Libby: Download an ebook/audiobook using TN R.E.A.D.S./Libby
    • Sign-up for the Dolly Parton Imagination Library (https://imaginationlibrary.com/check-availability/)
    • Sign-up for the Governors Early Literacy Foundation K-2 Decodables (https://readingresources.mybrightsites.com/)
  • READING MISSIONS:
    • Kindness, Community, Teamwork Book: Read a Book about kindness, teamwork, or community
    • Local Book: Read a Book by a local author or a book about local history
  • STORY MISSIONS:
    • Tell Us Something…:Tell us something you recently learned that blew your mind. 
    • You Approved: What is your favorite book or author? Tell us why this book or author is worthy of approval and why you recommend we add it to our library (if we don’t already have it). 
  • RANDOM ACTS OF KINDNESS MISSION: Choose from a list provided to perform Random Acts of Kindness and inspire others. 
    • *Must complete at least 7 for credit.
PUT THE UNITY IN COMMUNITY SCAVENGER HUNT MISSION: Complete to meet minimum requirements for Grand Prizes. We have placed small posters in the windows of the community businesses around Tellico Plains. You will need to record the BOOK TITLE & BOOK AUTHOR or the COMMUNITY IMAGE & TELLICO PLAINS FUN FACT to receive points. Have Fun and Happy Exploring! 
  • *Must complete at least 7 of the Scavenger Hunt for credit. 

readsquared

Like previous years, we will be using READsquared (website/app) to track everyone’s progress.

If you don’t have access to the internet, no worries! You can still participate!
We will have a computer in our library designated for participants to log their progress on READsquared.

The specified computer will be available
during library’s open hours.

In addition, we will also have Score Cards that can be completed, and we ask that you please turn in Score Cards at each event
(even if not completed to update progress) at the READsquared booth.

If you miss an event, please put the Score Cards in an envelope and drop them in the book drop box or turn them in at the library.
